Bournemouth could sell star names as financial crisis bites

Struggling Bournemouth could be forced to sell their big players this summer.

Bournemouth are ready to sell some of their big squad names to help keep the club afloat.

The Cherries sit second from bottom of the Premier League and are fighting for survival.

Eddie Howe’s side are on a terrible strut after picking just one point from eight matches, having lost five consecutive games.

A report on Daily Mail indicates that the club are prepared a cost-cutting drive ahead of next season.

The Cherries’ stadium holds just over 11,000 capacity and this has not helped the club rake in sizeable amount of finances. The coronavirus crisis has now brought an impediment that has put the club in dire financial situation.

Manager Eddie Howe and other high-profile members of staff voluntarily took pay-cuts to help ease the financial burden on the club.

Bournemouth chiefs are now planning to implement changes to the club’s structure ahead of the forthcoming campaign, leaving footballing and non-footballing staff at risk.

Staff across a number of departments whose contracts have elapsed or are due to expire could find themselves in danger, irrespective of whether Bournemouth stay in the Premier League — and redundancies are likely if relegation is confirmed.

Bournemouth host Tottenham on Thursday night before welcoming Leicester City on Sunday.
