Arsenal have ‘recruited’ David Luiz to convince Thiago Silva to join the Gunners.

Thiago Silva announced that he is set to leave the French side having been with PSG for eight years.

The veteran defender is set to leave PSG after their Champions League season concludes in August.

Arsenal are said to be keen to sign the Brazilian defender as a free agent as they look to bolster the side’s defence which has been plagued with injuries, howlers and inconsistency.

According to Le10 Sport, Mikel Arteta is said to have already reached out to the player and discussed a potential move to the North London side.

With Luiz and Silva having a close personal relationship, the Gunners are hoping that their defender will convince his Brazilian compatriot in moving to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have 19-year old William Saliba arriving from Saint-Etienne following his season back on loan in France. The highly-rated defender will be a great addition to the Gunners and may benefit from the experience of the veteran Silva.
