‘I want Canelo!’ declares Chris Eubank Jr

Chris Eubank Jr has called out Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez for a fight.

Eubank has demanded a fight with Canelo Alvarez boldly stating the he would ‘destroy’ the Mexican boxer.

Ever since Floyd Mayweather retired, Canelo has ascended to being the sport’s pound-for-pound king.

The Mexican is a three-weight world champion and is the WBC ‘franchise’ middleweight champion.

Eubank Jr, current WBA interim middleweight champion, has insisted that he deserves the next shot at Canelo, stating that that Canelo would not cope with his ultra-attacking style.

Canelo is the current pound-for-pound king in the boxing division and is regarded the Number 1 fighter

Speaking to Sky Sports, Eubank stated:

‘Canelo Alvarez, that’s the No 1 fight that I want right now.’

I don’t think anyone on the planet would make a better opponent for him. Most guys are going in there to run and survive, I’m going in there to destroy.

‘I know I can beat him, so that’s the fight I want.

‘I definitely have got a strategy. I see the weaknesses. I see where he can be exposed.’

He added: ‘Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez, two of the biggest names in boxing and they both have middleweight titles. Those are the guys I want. Those are the fights that I need at this stage of my career. I don’t want to take backward steps. It’s full steam ahead.’

There had been plans of a mega-fight between Saul Canelo and Billy Joe Saunders.

This was then put on hold when Saunders was banned from boxing due to his disgraceful and atrocious video which emerged on social media advising men on how to beat their partners during lockdown.
