Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland grab braces as Bundesliga heads to culmination

Robert Lewandowski continued his scintillating form, scoring twice in Bayern’s triumph over Freiburg.

Bayern hosted Freiburg at the back of clinching their eighth consecutive Bundesliga title earlier in the week.

Robert Lewandowski scored twice as the Bavarians registered their 12th successive league victory.

The Polish set up Joshua Kimmich to open the scoring in the 15th minute, before netting his first goal in the 24th minute.

Freiburg pulled one goal back through Lucas Holer in the 33rd minute, before Lewandowski sealed the win in the 37th minute and taking his league goal tally to 33 this season.

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund confirmed a second place finish away at RB Leipzig.

The match began with Leipzig handing a mosaic to Chelsea-bound forward Timo Werner. Werner sealed a mega-money move to London and is set to join Frank Lampard’s squad at the culmination of the league.

The visitors were not in the mood of farewell as they produced a dominant performance to triumph 2-0 over the home side.

Werder Bremen look to being relegated from the league after suffering a 3-1 loss to Mainz.

The hosts scored twice in the 25th and 30th minute to all-but seal Bremen’s fate. Japanese Yuya Osako pulled one back for the visitors in the 58th minute before Edimilson Fernandes sealed the points for the home team deep in second half.

Hoffenheim put an overwhelming performance, putting four goals past Union Berlin in a one-sided clash. Ihlas Bebou opened the scoring in the 11th minute before former Leicester City forward Andrej Kramaric made it 2-0 in the 39th minute. Moanes Dabour scored in first half stoppage time, before substitute Christoph Baumgartner sealed the win ten minutes after coming on as a substitute in the second half.

Borussia Monchengladbach compounded misery for already relegated Paderborn when they beat the minnows 3-1.

Fortuna Dusseldorf look set to contest the relegation play-offs after drawing 1-1 with 15th placed Augsburg. The hosts appeared to have opened the scoring when Rouwen Hennings appeared to have given them the lead in the opening minutes, only for VAR to come in and chalk of the goal. The visitors responded with a goal in the tenth minute. Hennings would then equalize in the 25th minute and earn the home-side a vital point.

Schalke’s winless streak extended to 15 games after they suffered a 4-1 loss to Wolfsburg. Wolfsburg’s Wout Weghorst grabbed a brace, with Kevin Mbabu and Joao Victor on the score sheet too. Schalke’s consolation goal came from Welsh forward Rabbi Matondo.

Florian Kainz converted a penalty to hand Cologne a first half lead over Eintracht Frankfurt. Bas Dost gave the visitors an equalizer in the second half.

Hertha Berlin returned to winning ways, beating Bayer Leverkusen 2-0. The hosts came into the match on the back of a three match losing streak and put in a spirited fight to dim the chances of the visitors’ participation in next season’s Champions League football.
