Timo Werner set to complete move to Chelsea and ‘abandon RB Leipzig’

Timo Werner is reportedly keen on joining Chelsea and will not take part in RB Leipzig’s Champions League quest.
The 24-year old is set to join the London side for a reported £53m on a five year contract worth £180,000 a week.
With the Bundesliga set to complete the season in the next 11 days, the forward is set to seal his move to Chelsea and will not take part in Leipzig’s Champions League run.
According to German publication Bild, the forward is keen on joining Frank Lampard’s side and will not take part in Leipzig’s Champions League quest.
RB Leipzig are already through to the quarter-finals of the competition after dumping out Tottenham in the last-16 with the forward on target in the only goal in the first leg in London.
UEFA is looking at an idea of having the competition completed in a World Cup-like tournament in August.
Leipzig will feature in the next stage – which could be played as part of a mini-tournament in Portugal – but Werner will be missing from their squad.
The striker’s £53m release clause – which Liverpool refused to pay given the financial uncertainty caused by the coronavirus crisis – expired at midnight on June 15.
Chelsea capitalised on their rivals going cold on Werner, who had been expected to make the move to Anfield after holding talks with Jurgen Klopp.
But he is now on the verge of becoming a Chelsea player after Frank Lampard was promised the funds to strengthen his squad significantly.
