Italian Football returned on Friday evening with Juventus hosting rivals AC Milan in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia.
Italy joined became the latest country to see return of top-flight football after a three-month hiatus due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Juventus hosted AC Milan in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final in a closed-door match that lacked major spark bar two incidences – Cristiano Ronaldo’s missed penalty and Ante Rebic’s sending off.
With the first match between the two ending in a 1-1 draw, Juventus went through to the finals with the match ending in a goalless draw.
Juventus were awarded a penalty when Milan’s Andrea Conti was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the penalty area – steps up, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The ball was not impressed – as it bounced off the woodwork, leaving the 35-year old frustrated by himself. Or by the ball.
Ten seconds after Ronaldo’s miss, Rebic was shown a red card for a terrible tackle on Danilo.
Rebic jumped into the air to try and touch the ball with his outstretched boot before the Brazilian but plunged his studs into his chest.
The match went on with Maurizio Sarri’s team dominating the better part of it but with nothing to show.
The game ended goalless and with the game tied at 1-1 after the first leg and away goals in play, Juventus headed to the finals where they will either face Napoli or Inter Milan who meet in the second leg of their semi-final on Saturday.
The final will be held next Wednesday.
