EFL Leagues vote for proposal of points-per-game to settle curtailed season

EFL Leagues have agreed that teams will be promoted and relegated from the leagues based on the points-per-game system.
The league held an extraordinary meeting earlier today on how the curtailed season will be decided.
Key matter of discussion was on how the final positions of the league will be decided after the season was cancelled.
The clubs unanimously agreed that a points-per-game system will be used to determine the final positions of the league.
League One clubs are also expected to hold a vote on whether to curtail the campaign, and there is a growing belief they will agree to do so.
The cost of playing behind closed doors means it is not likely to be financially viable for teams from the bottom two tiers of the Football League to play on.
A statement was released from the meeting:
- ‘Final divisional placings will be determined on unweighted points per game (if required).
- Promotion and relegation should be retained.
- Play-Offs will be played in all circumstances but will not be extended (beyond four teams).’
The Championship are expected to finish the campaign and announced a raft of fixtures on Monday ahead of their own restart on June 20.
