Ibis Styles, part of the global hospitality group Accor, in Nairobi is ramping up its efforts to open its hotels, with the launch of the ‘ALL Safe’ programme.
The programme is aimed at instilling confidence among guests at the hotel as travel restrictions are gradually lifted and markets prepare to travel again post COVID-19.
Maryanne Njeri, Communications Person- ibis Styles Nairobi says the Hotel has appointed a health and safety officer Mr. Vincent Okong’o, who not only ensures cleaning and hygiene protocols are implemented to the highest standards but also works with the rest of the team at the hotel to be available to handle guests questions and concerns on their safety and wellbeing.
“Having undergone special training, Mr. Okong’o is the hotel’s ambassador of the new ALL Safe Accor Programme – a set of rigorous measures designed to protect and reassure guests that safety measures are being actively practiced at the hotel to prevent the spread of Covid-19,” she said in a statement.
Accor’s ALL Safe Accor Programme is all-encompassing, with procedures responding to new consumer behaviours and expectations. Priorities include hygiene and cleanliness, Care and reassurance, Social distancing, Seamless and contactless services.
“All guests visiting or staying at ibis Styles Nairobi Westlands will only be granted access if they are wearing a proper facemask and gloves (provided by the hotel). We are also working closely with the Ministry of health to ensure the strictest compliance with policies and guidelines issued to protect guest health and safety during the ongoing pandemic.”

The hospitality sector in Kenya is set to begin its cautious recovery from the adverse effects of the Coronavirus pandemic. Other hotels that have resumed their restaurant activities including dine-in and deliveries include top tier hotels such as Villa Rosa Kempinski, Ole Sereni, Hemingways Watamu, Radisson Blu Arboretum and Trademark Hotel. Pride Inn plans to reopen by Mid-June.
“This is a positive step for hotel investors who have been grappling with revenue drops, and we expect this coupled by the plan by East African airlines such as RwandAir, Kenya Airways and Air Tanzania to resume passenger flights, to put hotels back on a recovery path, albeit slowly as social distancing and curfews remain in place.
The sector has also been receiving backup from the government evidenced by the recent formation of the National Tourism and Hospitality Protocols Taskforce meant to develop tourism and hospitality protocols and guidelines in response to COVID-19 pandemic and to support tourism operations,” Cytonn Investment Analysts note.
