NBA set to resuming the season in July

NBA is set to return to action in July after three months on suspension.

The Board of Management of Basketball in US approved a return to action after months on suspension.

The decision made on Thursday will see the league resume in Florida since March when the season was suspended due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Reports indicate that the league’s board approved that the 22 teams will be based at a single location.

The decision was made in a vote by the teams with twenty nine teams in favor for the return to action – with only Portland voting against.

In the proposal presented, the league would see the games resume on July 31 with all the 22 teams based at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando to minimize the threat of Covid-19.

The play-offs have been penciled in August with the NBA finals set to be completed by October 12.

Basketball was among the countless sporting events canceled or suspended back in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sixteen teams occupying the playoff berths in the Western and Eastern Conferences will be joined by six more teams to determine the final playoff line-up.

Each of the 22 teams will play eight regular-season games for seeding purposes for the postseason.

The league plans for teams to start training camps in their home cities on June 30 before travelling to Orlando on July 7.
