English football fans ‘could be back’ in stadiums in September

Premier League fans could be back in stadiums to watch games in September.

Premier League is set to resume on June 17 after a three month break due to the coronavirus pandemic.

While the games are set to be played behind closed doors in line with health and safety regulations, there is a possibility that fans will be allowed back to stadiums as early as September.

Most clubs have begun the process of reimbursing season ticket holders and those with individual match tickets as they take a huge financial crisis due to the pandemic.

According to The Mirror, the top-flight sides could welcome back their fans in the stadium when the new season begins in September.

Last week, Premier League chief executive Richard Masters admitted that he was hopeful that at least some supporters would be permitted to watch live matches next term.

‘No one knows when matches will move away from the behind-closed-doors model,’ he said.

‘Obviously, it’s right to have contingency plans in place, but there is optimism at the Premier League and at clubs that we will start to see fans back in the stadiums next season, and it may happen on a phased basis.’
