Champions League Final could be moved from Istanbul

The Champions League final could be moved from Istanbul.

The final was set to be held in the Turkish City but this could change as it will struggle to make up the cost of hosting the event without traveling fans.

As leagues slowly gear up to return to action, a major item has been the lack of fans present for the games as evidenced in the couple of games played in the Bundesliga.

The final was to be held at the Azaturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul but this could change

UEFA is set to host a meeting on June 17 and discuss that happens to the competition with among the issue of discussion is the possibility of having the remaining games played in one place.

Istanbul was set to host the showpiece final on May 30 but the report claims there have been talks between the host city and UEFA as the absence of travelling fans means they would not be able to make a return on their investment.

Officials are thought to be continually monitoring developments regarding continental air travel as to whether games will be able to take place home and away and how away goals could work.

The Cup holders Liverpool were knocked out by Atletico Madrid back in March

Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig, Paris Saint-Germain and Atalanta all qualified for the quarter-finals while there are four ties with a last 16 second leg match still to be played.

German cities and Portuguese capital Lisbon have supposedly been discussed as possible options.
