Tyson Fury is looking to forward to a clash with Anthony Joshua to crown a Unified Heavyweight Champion of the world.
The Gypsy King revealed that he is looking forward to fighting Anthony Joshua in an all-British heavyweight clash.
Fury completed his comeback to boxing when he floored, outboxed and beat Deontay Wilder back in February in a one-side clash in Las Vegas.
Earlier this month, reports indicated that Fury’s camp had begun negotiations with Joshua’s team for a clash between the two heavyweight fighters.
AJ has a mandatory title clash with Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev, while Fury has a rematch with the Bronze Bomber from Alabama. Reports had indicated that the two British fighters were to ‘persuade’ their opponents to step aside and allow a fight to crown a new Unified Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. However, the two (Pulev and Wilder) did not agree to the proposal.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Fury said:
‘If I get knocked out by Deontay Wilder, then it [the Joshua fight] won’t be on, will it? It will be another fight with Wilder and so forth and so on. If he loses to Pulev, so close, but so far away. In heavyweight boxing, you can never count your chickens before they hatch, so one fight at a time. One victory at a time. All going well, God willing, we get on the big fight with me and Joshua, the all-British showdown and I can give the fans what they want to see, especially the British fans.’
Boxing has ground to a halt since the outbreak of the coronavirus, meaning plans for the Fury – AJ bout to be held this year have grown unlikely.
