Premier League Chiefs is set to hold crunch talks this morning to decide on the roll-out of Project Restart.

The board is aiming for May 18 training return and June 8 season restart. The Premier League was suspended in March when Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta and Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive of Covid-19.

The Football Association had initially set April 4 as the date of resumption only to extend the suspension amidst the prevalence of the coronavirus pandemic in UK.

The British Government has urged Premier League Management to hasten plans of resuming as it hopes this will offer the nation some relief and hope.

Wembley Stadium could be used as a neutral hub for Premier League matches should the games resume

Reports are that the government is pushing the Premier League to return as this will offer the nation a positive feel and reduce the anxiety and stress caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Premier League has in the past week been sharing guidelines that the clubs are required to adhere in health and safety.

Clubs have already been advised to recall players who are abroad as they will need to be in quarantine for two weeks before they can join team-mates.

Arsenal players resumed training on Monday at their Colney training ground

The Mirror report that the Premier League are ready to send out a seven-page document to every club on how to return to training during the pandemic, once its contents have been agreed on at today’s meeting.

Among the guidelines include that every player will be required to wear a mask or snood in training. This will help ensure that the players do not come in contact with droplets or saliva from other players.

All club staff, players, managers and coaches will be banned from spitting at the training ground so as to minimize chances of spreading infections.

Any plan to finish the season, with 92 matches still be played, seems an ambitious one right now, but this what the Premier League is faced with, and these are the issues they must discuss Friday.
