The British Government has urged Premier League Management to hasten plans of resuming as it hopes this will offer the nation some relief and hope.
According to The Times, the government is pushing the Premier League to return as this will offer the nation a positive feel and reduce the anxiety and stress caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Premier has been out of action since March 13 when the games were suspended, but there are plans to have the games resumed and played behind closed doors in an attempt to finish the current campaign.
Premier League Heads are said to have drawn up a plan called ‘Project Restart’ which could see the matches resumed as early as June 8 and played at a set and approved neutral venues/hubs.
The neutral venues include St George’s Park and the Wembley Stadium.
This plan also ‘allows for a three-week pre-season in which players would be training in full contact sessions.’
One idea is for players to be put into lockdown in nominated hotels for up to six weeks until the final matches are played.
The government has ruled that football players are employees who can’t do their work properly at home, so has given clubs permission to resume training schedules.
Over 20,000 people have died in the UK due to the disease, and there have been over 150,000 confirmed cases.
