With16 new cases reported in 24 hours, the total number of coronavirus positive cases in Kenya rose to 142 on Sunday, according to the Health Chief Administrative Secretary Mercy Mwangangi.
“Nine cases are from quarantine facilities and seven are from contact tracing. Contact tracing is ongoing,” she said.
The new patients include 15 Kenyans and a Nigerian.
The ages of the confirmed cases range between 22 to 66 years.
“We have so far monitored 1,833 contacts and out of this number 1,384 have been discharged. Currently, there are 449 contacts that we are actively tracing,” Dr Mwangangi said.
According to the Ministry, those who die from the virus must be buried in 24 hours.
Kenya’s first case was reported on March 13, 2020.
