Nairobi National Park has seen the arrival of its first baby white rhino, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) announced on Saturday.

KWS said it spotted the three days old calf grazing with its mother in the Park.

“We are thrilled to report the birth of a white rhino in Nairobi National Park. The lucky mother rhino had gone into hiding from hawk-eyed rangers only for her to resurface today with a three-day-old calf. Welcome to the family baby rhino,” said KWS via its social feed.

In 2018 the last known living Northern male white rhino (Sudan) died in Kenya’s Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

The only surviving northern white rhinos now are a mother and daughter.
