The Kenyan government has set Jan. 15 as the deadline for clearing overdue payments amounting Ksh 4.2 billion.
Ksh10.8 billion of the bills have been paid in the last three months according to the Acting Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani in a statement issued on Christmas Eve.
“The National Government has pending bills amounting to KSh58.2 billion out of which KSh43.2 billion comprise of historical/contested bills which are undergoing audit and investigation,” he said.
“The amount of eligible pending bills paid as of 18th December 2019 is KSh28.57 billion leaving an outstanding balance of KSh22.71 billion,” the CS said.
