Britam Holdings Plc has announced the retirement of Stephen Wandera as the Principal Executive Director after attaining the mandatory retirement age.

He was overseeing the group’s business in Kenya and the international division of six countries.

An experienced Chair of The Board Of Directors with a demonstrated history of working in the insurance industry. Skilled in Portfolio Management, Business Planning, Operations Management, Risk Management, and Customer Service, Wandera began his tenure at the diversified financial services company, on August 1, 1993, as a Business Development Manager and rose through the ranks to become the Principal Executive Director in a successful career spanning 26 years.

“Stephen has been a key member of the leadership team that has steered the growth of Britam from a small life insurance company based in Kenya, to a leading diversified financial services company operating in several countries in the region”, said Benson Wairegi, the Group Managing Director.

He is a former Chairman of the Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI) and a former Governor of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA).
He holds a Master’s Degree and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration, both from the University of Nairobi. He has extensive experience in insurance and is also a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII).
