Two students from the Dedan Kimathi University are the winners of the 2019 Nairobi Securities Exchange Investment Challenge.
Ms. Monica Njambi and Ms. Beatrice Njeri, third-year students were emerged winners of the 2019 NSE Investment Challenge after gaining a portfolio return of KSh 3,919,471.
They received a cash reward of Kshs. 250,000 from the NSE, mobile devices and credit from BLAZE Kenya and internships at the NSE. BLAZE is a network that gives youth access to the “Be Your Own Boss” mentorship summits, boot camps, events, and youth empowerment programs
The NSE Investment Challenge is an online simulation of live trading at the Nairobi Securities Exchange, where each participating group/individual is given a virtual startup capital of 3 Million to invest using the NSE real-time information for a period of 3 months.
The winner is the team/individual with the highest portfolio value.
Samson Kibirah a student at the Kenya School of Revenue Administration and Jacob Wafula from Machakos University were the first and second runners up with portfolio returns of KSh. 3,202,655 and KSh 3,487,572 respectively.
Collins Kiprono Koech, a local entrepreneur, was the winner of the non-student category with a portfolio return of KSh 3,571,475.
James Ngwera and Stanley Sewe were the first and second runners up of the non-student category with portfolio returns of KSh. 3,469,694 and KSh 3,076,207 respectively.
