Supermarket chain Naivas has said it will be investing over Ksh. 30 million in a  customer cashback promotion during the upcoming festive period.

Customers will get direct cashback after purchasing goods from the supermarket chain in line with its nine-year tradition popularly known as ‘Kikwetu’, (Swahili for ‘our ways’), to deliver tap more customers across its network.

“2019, has so far been a tough year for Kenyans and we want to ensure they can enjoy the festive season, despite the hassles it comes with,” Naivas Chief Commercial Officer Willy Kimani said during the launch.

Kimani added that the general mood of the economy was that Kenyans feel weighed down heavily, with a strong expectation that the Christmas shopping atmosphere will be dampened.

The campaign is designed to draw and reward Kenyans across Naivas growing branch network countrywide.

Kimani explained that the firm expects to open at least two new stores, In Nairobi and Kiambu counties, over the next eight weeks, bringing its total footprint to 58 outlets.

To execute the cashback, the firm is rolling out a system that ensures 250 shoppers receive Kshs 2,000 daily in the form of a voucher with their shopping.

In addition, the retailer said that it has worked out discounted prices on selected items that will be on offer throughout the festive season.
