Brimin Kipkorir and Purity Jebichi  on Sunday won the 17th edition of the Nairobi Standard Chartered Marathon men’s and women’s 42.2KM race.

Brimin won in a time of 2.10:43 ahead of Stephen Kipchirchir (2.11:53) and Victor Serem (2.12:00) to retain the title he won in 2018.

Purity won in a time of 2.30:34 ahead of Chemtai Rionotukei (2.33:40) and Shelmita Muriuki (2.34:04).

The aim of the marathon was to raise Ksh 60 Million to help a youth initiative programme branded ‘Future Makers’.

The initiative builds on the success of the bank’s global Seeing is Believing (SiB) initiative to tackle avoidable blindness and visual impairment.

“Between 2003 and 2018, we reached more than 176 million people through SiB and raised more than USD100 million,” according to Stanchart.
