World’s Greatest Marathoner Eliud Kipchoge Responds to Barack Obama

34-year-old Kenyan athlete, Eliud Kipchoge, who has stopped the world since he broke human limit by running a marathon under 2 hours has caught the eye of former US President Barack Obama.

On Saturday, October 12, Kipchoge was over to the moon and back after clocking 1:59.40 making history as the first man to run a 42-km marathon under one hour.

The world was glued to Vienna, Austria and among those who could not sweep away the Kipchoge effect was Obama.

Just like he captured the world when he first ran for US President, Obama also captured the world when he hailed Kipchoge.

Obama could not hide his joy and joined the world in congratulating Kipchoge and fellow Kenyan Brigid Kosgei following their stellar performance.

Obama is also a Kenyan, born of a Kenyan father.

“Yesterday, marathoner Eliud Kipchoge became the first ever to break two hours. Today in Chicago, Brigid Kosgei set a new women’s world record. Staggering achievements on their own, they’re also remarkable examples of humanity’s ability to endure—and keep raising the bar,” he said in a Tweet on Sunday.

Kipchoge gas since responded to the kind words by Obama and requested for a meeting between them.

The marathoner said he would love to have a word with Obama and see how they can make the world a running world.

Through running, he said, the world is more peaceful.

“Dear Mr. Obama, Thank you for your special words. In life, we hope to inspire others. Thank you for inspiring me. It would be my greatest honour if we could meet, and discuss how we can make this world a running world. As a running world is a peaceful world. #NoHumanIsLimited,” responded Kipchoge.
