Standard Chartered in partnership with iLabAfrica and Strathmore University on Wednesday launched KSh20 million 2019/2020 Standard Chartered Women in Technology Cohort 3 which will see five entrepreneurs win KSh1 million each.
The SCWomen in Technology Incubator Kenya is Africa’s leading women in tech incubator, aligning with calls for more diversity in technology and for more opportunities for women to develop entrepreneurial and leadership excellence.
Through the Women in Tech Incubator, 10 businesses will benefit from mentorship and seed funding.
The program combines world-class startup support with local and international experience to provide Africa’s most competitive and attractive startup incubation program focusing on immersive learning, mentorship, building and growing Africa’s next iconic startups taking on the continent’s most relevant challenges and opportunities.
“To date, from cohort one, four out of five of the companies have received investor funding ranging from KSh5 million to KSh15 million, and their businesses have grown revenue and sales in double digits,” said StanChart chief executive Kariuki Ngari.

Shortlisted start-ups will be selected to go through a 12-week incubation period after which five will win Sh1 million.
According to Stanchart, since 2017, over 350 entrepreneurs have applied to be a part of the programme with 80 start-ups being shortlisted. 21 have taken part in the incubator programme, and 10 outstanding start-ups have received Ksh 1 million each to grow their businesses. How to apply
