KPMG East Africa is set to strengthen its audit, tax and advisory services in the region after electing Benson Ndung’u  as the Senior Partner and Chief Executive.

Benson will become the firm’s chief executive effective 1 September 2019 taking over from Josphat Mwaura whose term ends after ten years at the helm.

Speaking after his election, Benson said that he was humbled by the trust that the Partners have placed on him. “My commitment is to continue to take advantage of the immense opportunities in the market to achieve the strategic aspirations that we have set ourselves,” adding that, “I see a very bright future for our firm.”

He will be working closely with Josphat over the next five months to ensure a smooth transition.

Benson is the immediate former managing partner of KPMG in Uganda, a role he served between 2007 and 2017.

He is currently the Head of Tax in East Africa, a role he assumed in 2018 after transitioning from the audit practice.

He holds a Bachelors degree in Economics and a Masters in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Nairobi.  Benson was admitted to partnership in 2007.
